Composers and musicians!

I’m writing to tell you all that this month, the Cascadia Composers are throwing a very unique instrumental workshop, and you are all invited to be a part of it. On January 17th, we’ll be exploring the sound and compositional possibilities of the electric bass and electric guitar with bassist Damian Erskine and guitarist Erik Moulton. Some of the musical aspects we’ll be exploring are how to best notate for these instruments, different types of tone, working with amps, using picks, bottlenecks, E-bows, etc., effects pedals such as distortion, tremolo, delay, wah-wah, etc., and many other techniques like palm muting, tremolo picking, different types of harmonics and working with feedback and percussive or noise-related effects.

This workshop will take place on 1/17/2015 at 10:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M at Refuge PDX; 116 Southeast Yamhill Street, Portland, OR 97217 and the cost is $10.00. Please e-mail me at: nicholasyandell@gmail.com and let me know that you are interested in coming so we’ll know how many people to set up for.

Thanks and hope to see many of you there!
