Presentation by the Delgani String Quartet: Remembering Tomáš Svoboda

One of the greatest composers of the last 60 years passed away on November 17 at the age of 82. Tomáš Svoboda was a musical icon in the Pacific Northwest, where he lived and worked since 1969. Among his many and varied accomplishments, he was vitally instrumental to Cascadia Composers’ founding in 2008. Delgani was fortunate to meet Tomáš and study three of his quartets. They remain some of our most beloved repertoire.

We invite you to join Delgani cellist Eric Alterman for a special Zoom session celebrating the quartets of Tomáš Svoboda. Using Delgani’s new album, “Tomáš Svoboda: Three String Quartets,” Eric will share some of his favorite musical moments from these pieces and take questions about the music and the recording process.
