Charles Rose — The New Polish School & Jeff Rosick — Composing for Music Licensing in Media
December 14, 2020 @ 7:30 pmFree
1st – Charles Rose
In this presentation I will discuss the contents of my articles on the New Polish School published in the most recent issue of Subito and consider what lessons we can learn from them as Portland composers in 2020. The questions they asked themselves are still relevant to us today: what is the role of the composer in society? How can we innovate aesthetically and technically? How do we write music that is both relevant to the moment and enduring? How can we promote and support ourselves? In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have started to ask ourselves these questions, and the New Polish School can help lead us towards some answers.
Charles Rose is a composer, writer and sound engineer from Portland, Oregon. He is a recording engineer for FearNoMusic, a writer for Oregon Arts Watch, and editor for the 2020 issue of Subito. He graduated from Portland State University in 2019.
