“The Warbler Sings: New music from Northwest composers looking east”.TheWarblerSingsPosterLg Join us for a one hour-no intermission concert of new music. All these pieces have some inspiration or connection to Asia and the Middle East. The centerpiece of the concert is the Eugene premiere of “The Warbler Sings”, a new song cycle for soprano, piano, double bass and trumpet written by Paul Safar for Nancy Wood with text from the haiku of Basho.

Also on the concert will be the rarely performed solo koto work of Tomas Svoboda entitled “Autumn” performed by Mitsuki Dazai-Church. A world premiere by Mark Vigil and songs from former Oregonian Derek Healey round out the concert. Held in the beautiful First Christian Church of downtown Eugene, this promises to be a special event.

Friday, October 17th at 8pm. First Christian Church – 1166 Oak Street, Eugene

$10 suggested donation/ $5 students.
