All aboard for Cascadia Composers’ bold adventure to musical galaxies far, far away – over desert landscapes and the inner sea, where modern dinosaurs and medieval characters vie for your sympathies. Not through the Great Square of Pegasus, shining in our skies, but through works by composers living in a great square of American cities – Seattle, Fargo, Dallas, and Los Angeles – complementing works by longtime Oregon composers evoking the West and beyond.
The stellar program includes works by Cascadia Composers Greg Bartholomew, Sy Brandon, Kevin Bryant Lay, Alex Shapira, Greg A Steinke, William Toutant, Martin J. Van Klompenberg, and Mark Vigil. Performing artists include the Chameleon Winds: Abby Mages (flute), Sean Kelleher (clarinet), Alan Juza (oboe), Daniel Partridge (horn), and Sam Rhoton (bassoon). Also appearing are pianists Ben Gimm, Susan McDaniel, and Luna Thompson-Aue.
